Father of Maybelline's first male model completely shuts down homophobic tweet
It is 2017, how are these things still happening?
On 6th January, make-up giants Maybelline announced that they had recruited their first-ever male model. A huge moment in the progression of acceptance of the LGBT community.
That male model's name is Manny Gutierrez, he is a popular YouTuber and social media personality. He is also gay and is well known for wearing make-up in his videos.
It seems that some people found his appointment as the first male model of a major make-up brand a little bit harder to comprehend. People like Matt Walsh, a blogger who does not believe in transgenderism:
Look, just stop pretending you believe in this "transgenderism" nonsense. It's gotten way out of hand. Time to stop playing along.— Matt Walsh (@MattWalshBlog) January 8, 2017
And that's supposed to be a bad thing? https://t.co/oGKMhYVup4— Matt Walsh (@MattWalshBlog) January 9, 2017
He tweeted out a picture of Manny, claiming that the reason Mr Gutierrez wore make-up was because his father wasn't around to raise him.
Dads, this is why you need to be there to raise your sons. pic.twitter.com/8ybirgppKi— Matt Walsh (@MattWalshBlog) January 6, 2017
It is not the only tweet Mr Walsh has sent out in this vein, he even wrote a whole blog post about the subject.
Dads, we can't expect our sons to become real men if we don't teach them how" https://t.co/a5yQC1kQg6— Matt Walsh (@MattWalshBlog) January 10, 2017
Well, when Manny Sr. saw Mr Walsh's homophobic tweet, he felt he needed to respond. Unfortunately, he doesn't have twitter so he decided to let his son pass on the message:
My dad is a fucken SAVAGE, I can't with him ❤️ pic.twitter.com/iWceEmZ6L4— Manny MUA (@MannyMua733) January 14, 2017
This is brilliant.
Mr Walsh's views need to be flushed out. Thankfully there has been a lot of progress in the last few years, but there is still a long way to go.
But Manny Gutierrez Snr. we salute you. Dad of the year?
