Can you spot why bake-off fans are so annoyed by these promo shots?
The Great British Bake-Off is nearly back on our screens, and almost everybody is excited about it, because it's brilliant.
However, some people have been a bit annoyed by the promo shots, introducing the new contestants. Why, you ask?
Great British Bake Off publicity shots have all the men with blue icing & all the women with pink. #GBBO #justsaying pic.twitter.com/umT94vmF7T

Yeah, it appears that the GBBO folk thought it would be fine to give the men blue icing and the women pink icing. No chance that would annoy anybody, right?
SO excited for Bake Off, NOT excited for their gendered icing promo shots #GreatBritishBakeOff pic.twitter.com/oSbAlkIx2B

It has annoyed and disappointed a lot of baking fans, who don't think the colour of the icing should be gendered so unnecessarily.
What's with the pink and blue icing for the British Bake Off photos? Are we not past the pink-for-girls blue-for-boys stage?
— Melanie Philpott (@SmellyFlipFlop) August 16, 2016
Bit disappointing bake off have given all the men blue and ladies pink icing in the contestants profile pictures.

Great British Bake Off is back. Pink icing 4 girls, blue 4 boys. Gender stereotyping much? https://t.co/CO9ucA0lHx pic.twitter.com/TEPRAWMkSx

And their annoyance has in turn annoyed other people, who think the gendering of icing is fine...
@travelgeekuk Do you people have nothing better to do than complain about the colour of some icing?! Jesus Christ!
— Danny Vaux (@V17UXY) August 16, 2016
A lot of people complained in fact about the choice of icing colour, saying that it was unnecessary gender stereotyping. Even Lib Dem leader Tim Farron took a stance...
Looking forward to catching #GBBO but I hope the pink icing for girls, blue icing for boys is dropped. https://t.co/L3PiPqPGwQ

And people got into in-depth conversations about icing and gender stereotyping, thanks to a promo shot from a show about baking delicious cakes.
People are annoyed that Bake Off photos used pink icing for women & blue for men. Please drown me in syrup.
— Andreas (@AndreasLeKirk) August 16, 2016
@AndreasLeKirk why wouldn't people be annoyed?
— £1 femme (@spacecommunism) August 16, 2016
@spacecommunism it's an extremely silly thing that an extremely silly show has done & I think it's a waste of time to even tweet about it
— Andreas (@AndreasLeKirk) August 16, 2016
@AndreasLeKirk I don't think that the gendering of even the most inane shit in life is 'silly' when that ruins lives of women & trans ppl
— £1 femme (@spacecommunism) August 16, 2016
— Andreas (@AndreasLeKirk) August 16, 2016
@AndreasLeKirk cool response bro
— £1 femme (@spacecommunism) August 16, 2016
@AndreasLeKirk it's not as simple as 'pink frosting' tho is it it's about how literally everything in binary gendered & who that harms most
— £1 femme (@spacecommunism) August 16, 2016
@spacecommunism am I allowed to disagree on how vital it is to call out this particular kind of gendered thing?
— Andreas (@AndreasLeKirk) August 16, 2016
@AndreasLeKirk I'm not saying EVERYONE CALL THIS THING OURLT RN I'm saying that why tf are u mocking it when it's legit?
— £1 femme (@spacecommunism) August 16, 2016
But fortunately comedian Joe Lycett cleared everything up...
People complaining that the #gbbo icing is gender biased are wrong. The PINK icing means that they are GAY. pic.twitter.com/qEghmjZwBI
— Joe Lycett (@joelycett) August 16, 2016
BLUE icing means they voted REMAIN.
— Joe Lycett (@joelycett) August 16, 2016
At lot of lesbian leavers this series.
— Joe Lycett (@joelycett) August 16, 2016
So now we can all sit back, relax and enjoy the bake-off.
