12 yr old accidentally runs half marathon, gets medal
A 12-year-old girl has accidentally ran a half-marathon, after she got confused and entered the wrong race.
LeeAdianez Rodriguez was supposed to be running a 5km (3.1 mile) race, but joined the wrong queue of runners and ended up taking part in a 13 mile half marathon.
Despite being completely untrained for such a long race, she finished a respectable 1,885th of 2,111th in the race. LeeAdianez accidentally completed the race in 2:43:31, ahead of 226 people who had entered the race on purpose.

The schoolgirl arrived late for the Rochester Regional Health Flower City Challenge in New York (as she was only supposed to be attending the 5k race) but marshals told her to just join the run.
Part way through the race, she realised it was longer than she had trained for and asked fellow runners what was going on. They informed her that she was in fact in the half marathon, and she decided to carry on regardless.
Despite not having trained for such a massive distance, she completed the race in a good time, ahead of many other runners.
Meanwhile, her mother panicked
When her daughter failed to cross the 5km race finish line, LeeAdianez's mother panicked and alerted the police.
“She just wanted to finish the race," her mother Brendalee Espada told the Democrat & Chronicle.
“Two hours after I started looking for her, I see that one of the officers found her. And I see she has a medal.”
"It was such a scary moment, but rewarding for her in the end. I don't even know how she did it. I'm so proud of her."
