This mind-melting illusion is freaking out the internet

This Ambiguous Cylinder illusion has been freaking out the internet.

The illusion was created by Kokichi Sugihara from Meiji University in Japan for an “Illusion Of The Year” competition.

The illusion sees rectangles turn into circles right before your own disbelieving face, only to turn back to circles again when the scientist (or witch) turns them around again.

People have speculated it's created by everything from photoshop to witchcraft, or with twin mimes.

It's neither of these. But before you demand the witch-man be burned at the fire, check out this explanation video.

Try it yourself. But be careful.

Very, very careful.
