KFC bans under-18's from accessing chicken

KFC Chicken banned

If you’re under 18, good luck getting yourself some chicken! KFC has banned unaccompanied ‘yoof’ from entering one of its restaurants after several violent fights involving teen gangs broke out.

Under-18’s can only eat inside the fast-food restaurant in Meir Park Stoke-on-Trent if they are with an adult - because no-one over 18 is in a gang.

If you are a fighting gangster kid, you can forgo the KFC restaurant experience and order a takeaway though. Now, don’t you go fighting in the queue!

Manager Liam Dalgarno said: ‘The way some of these youngsters act can be scary for staff. People shouldn’t have to experience that. A minority had been causing trouble. Really they only came in for the wifi but we have reduced the distance of it so now it only reaches the doors. We have gradually started noticing a difference since this policy was introduced and these measures help the staff to feel safer at work.’

Meir - the neighbourhood where the KFC is located, has developed a reputation for gang violence. Last month, police had to break up a flight nearby that resulted in eight arrests and the seizure of two firearms (not thought to be chicken related).

KFC has 900 restaurants in the UK, but has confirmed that this is the only one that has banned under 18’s.
