Elderly couple show up at English club, rave till 5am

An elderly couple have shown up to an underground house and techno party called "WetYourSelf" and didn't leave until kick-out time, putting other clubbers who left at 3am to shame.

The elderly Polish couple were visiting their daughter in Watford when they read a review of the Farringdon club Fabric, and decided to check it out on Sunday night.

Once they were in the club, they were welcomed with tequila slammers by the DJ and didn't leave until 5am on Monday morning.

Are you lost?

DJ Jacob Hanson, who runs the WetYourSelf night, said he initially thought the couple must be lost when he saw them walking in.

"I was downstairs just opening and I saw her on her crutches going slowly down the stairs," he told the London Evening Standard.

"I thought they were lost. They didn't speak English really."

"I thought they were maybe relatives of someone from the club, but then I spoke to the people on the door and they said they had tickets."

"I ran down to welcome them to the club, I said 'it's amazing you're here' and gave them a drink."

"They had two tequila shots and she gave me a high five."

"I was desperate to find someone who could speak to them and find out their story."

A typical night at WetYourSelf in Fabric. Crammed full of retirees.

Ballroom dancing

DJ Hansen managed to find a Polish-speaker, and asked them who booked the tickets. The wife grinned and said she had.

"The thing I really, really loved was they had so much humour between them."

"Really good banter, I wish I spoke Polish and could have joined in."

The couple told him they were going to take the Tube back to Watford at 6am, so they were going to be at the club till the very end.

Mr Hansen told them they could drink for free, use the VIP area and would be given a taxi home whenever they wanted to leave.

Of course, they wanted tea, and when it came time to dance to some "choons", they chose a foxtrot.

"I took them upstairs to the balcony and brought them some tea - because they wanted to have tea. They were really sweet, they were on the balcony with their hands together ballroom dancing."

Despite having the option of an early taxi, the couple stayed till the end of the night at 5am. Meanwhile, dozens of 18-25 year olds left the club at 1am complaining about being "tired".
